Privacy policy

We take the protection of your personal data seriously and treat your data confidentially and in accordance with the statutory data protection regulations and this privacy policy.

1. Controller

The controller responsible for data processing on this website is:

FINDER e.V. (eingetragener Verein, a registered association)
Schützenstraße 6A
10117 Berlin, Germany
Phone
+49 (0)30 754 395 750
Email
info@finder-akademie.de

Further information about our organisation is available in the imprint.

2. Collection and storage of personal data

a) When visiting the website

When you access our website finder-akademie.de, the browser used on your device automatically sends information to the server hosting our website. This information is temporarily stored in a so-called log file. The following information is recorded without any action on your part and stored until its automated deletion:

  • IP address of the requesting computer (truncated for anonymisation)
  • Date and time of access
  • Name and URL of the retrieved file
  • Website from which the access is made (referrer URL)
  • Browser used and, where applicable, the operating system of your computer

Processing is carried out to safeguard our legitimate interests (Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f GDPR) in a smooth connection setup, convenient use of the website, evaluation of system security and stability, and for further administrative purposes.

b) When using our contact form

For questions of any kind we offer you the option to contact us via a form provided on the website or by email. This requires the provision of a valid email address so that we know who sent the enquiry and can respond to it. Further information may be provided on a voluntary basis.

The processing of data for the purpose of contacting us is carried out pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. a GDPR on the basis of your voluntarily given consent. The personal data collected by us for the use of the contact form will be deleted automatically after your enquiry has been dealt with, unless statutory retention periods apply.

c) When registering for events

When you register for seminars, further training courses and conferences, we collect the data required for the performance of the contract: name, institution or sponsor, email address, optional telephone, postal address (street, postal code, city, federal state) and an optional note. The federal state is additionally used to check eligibility for state-level funding (for example the Landespräventionsrat Niedersachsen for PROXI training). The legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. b GDPR (pre-contractual steps and contract performance). The data will be deleted after the event has ended; statutory retention obligations (in particular § 147 AO and § 257 HGB – German Fiscal Code and German Commercial Code) remain unaffected.

Technically, the registration runs through a self-operated API service on this site, which transmits the data into our likewise self-hosted event and accounting system Odoo (crm.finder-akademie.de). The confirmation e-mail is sent from our own mail server (mail.finder-akademie.de). Both systems are operated by FINDER e.V. as the sole controller; no external processor is involved in the registration flow.

3. Disclosure of data

Your personal data will not be transmitted to third parties for purposes other than those listed below. We only pass your personal data on to third parties if:

  • you have given your express consent in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. a GDPR,
  • disclosure is necessary pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f GDPR for the assertion, exercise or defence of legal claims and there is no reason to assume that you have an overriding legitimate interest in the non-disclosure of your data,
  • there is a legal obligation for disclosure pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. c GDPR, and
  • this is legally permissible and necessary pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. b GDPR for the performance of contractual relationships with you.

4. Cookies

Our website does not currently use any cookies for analytics or marketing purposes. For technically necessary functions (for example to store your language or theme preference), we exclusively use the local storage of your browser. This data remains locally on your device and is not transmitted to us.

5. Web analytics with Matomo (cookieless)

In order to design our website to meet user needs, we generate usage statistics with the open-source software Matomo (matomo.org). The Matomo instance is operated on a server in Germany controlled by us; your data does not leave this infrastructure and is not passed on to third parties.

Our use of Matomo is configured in a privacy-friendly manner:

  • No cookies. We run Matomo strictly without cookies (disableCookies). No Matomo cookies (_pk_id, _pk_ses) are stored on your device.
  • IP anonymisation. Before being stored, the IP address is truncated by several bytes, so that attribution to a specific person is no longer possible.
  • Do Not Track. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal (DNT), no tracking takes place at all – the Matomo script is not loaded in that case.
  • No fingerprinting. Browser feature detection is disabled (disableBrowserFeatureDetection), as is the evaluation of campaign parameters (disableCampaignParameters).

Only aggregated data that cannot be traced back to individuals is recorded: the sub-page accessed and the time, the referrer URL, rough geographic origin (country) derived from the truncated IP address, and the browser and operating system used.

The legal basis for the use of Matomo is Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in the statistical analysis of usage behaviour to optimise our services. Since no cookies or comparable technologies are used that store or retrieve information on your device, consent pursuant to § 25 TTDSG (German Telecommunications and Telemedia Data Protection Act) is not required.

6. Embedded third-party services

a) YouTube videos

We occasionally embed videos from YouTube in our media library. The operator is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Where technically possible, we use the „extended data protection mode" (youtube-nocookie.com), so that cookies and a request to Google are only triggered once you actively start the video. Further information can be found in Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy .

b) Cal.com (appointment bookings)

For booking appointments we use Cal.com. The integration is provided via a self-hosted Cal.com instance at termin.finder-akademie.de. The data you enter (name, email address, and any voluntary information in the comment field) is processed exclusively for the purpose of scheduling an appointment. The legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. b GDPR.

7. Duration of storage

Personal data is stored for as long as it is necessary for the respective purpose. Once the purpose has been fulfilled, the data is deleted, unless statutory retention obligations require us to store it for a longer period.

8. Your rights

You have the right:

  • pursuant to Art. 15 GDPR, to request information about the personal data we process concerning you;
  • pursuant to Art. 16 GDPR, to request the immediate correction of inaccurate personal data or the completion of your personal data stored by us;
  • pursuant to Art. 17 GDPR, to request the deletion of your personal data stored by us, unless the processing is necessary for the exercise of the right to freedom of expression and information, for compliance with a legal obligation, for reasons of public interest or for the assertion, exercise or defence of legal claims;
  • pursuant to Art. 18 GDPR, to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data;
  • pursuant to Art. 20 GDPR, to receive the personal data you have provided to us in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, or to request its transmission to another controller;
  • pursuant to Art. 7 para. 3 GDPR, to revoke your consent at any time. This has the consequence that we may no longer continue the data processing based on this consent in the future;
  • pursuant to Art. 77 GDPR, to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. As a rule, you can contact the supervisory authority at your usual place of residence, your place of work or our registered office.

9. Right to object

If your personal data is processed on the basis of legitimate interests pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f GDPR, you have the right to object to the processing of your personal data pursuant to Art. 21 GDPR, provided that there are grounds arising from your particular situation.

10. Data security

During your website visit, we use the widely used TLS encryption method in conjunction with the highest encryption level supported by your browser. Whether an individual page of our website is transmitted in encrypted form can be recognised by the closed key or padlock symbol in the lower status bar of your browser.

11. Currency and amendment of this privacy policy

This privacy policy is currently valid and was last updated in 2026. Due to the further development of our website or changes in statutory or regulatory requirements, it may become necessary to amend this privacy policy. The current privacy policy can be accessed at any time on this page.
